One of John Ledford’s sons name was Fredrick C Ledford. He had a son names David Ledford jr. David along with two of his brothers Jason and Center joined confederated troops in the civil war. They all three abandoned the confederate side but both Jason and Center re-enlisted in other troops on the Confederate side.
David ended up joining the Union troops were he helped Union Officers escape prison in the south. David married Nancy Dulcena Hicks and they had several children. I believe Dulcena was a Cherokee Indians. Confederate rebels began hunting David down and he was killed execution style by the rebels. Dulcena took her son Ranz and drove a wagon to pick up David’s bullet ridden body.
the confederate rebel hunted David down. Family folklore has rebels showing up at David and Dulcena’s home. They hung young Ranz up by his thumbs and throw food on the floor and then peed on it. Dulcena was so distraught when she brought David’s body home that she left in a chair in a sitting room. Family came and buried his body for her.
Julia Ann was one of their daughters and She married Jason Francis Ledford. They are our great-grandparents.
